RANE is based upon real characters. The person whom RANE characterises is in his thirties, is a result of Stolen Generations and has found his community after being ‘discovered’ by a relative at a Redfern sporting event many years ago. I have known RANE for over thirty years and knew his family of Chinese sister and non-Aboriginal brother and adoptive mum and dad. Brett Whiteley painted RANE many years ago.
